Big concerns for Arsenal over Iwobi’s fitness

Arsenal are having fitness concerns for Super Eagles Alex Iwobi who might be out of Saturday’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against South Africa in Johannesburg.

Iwobi alongside Udinese defender William Troost-Ekong and Brighton’s Leon Balogun did not participate in Eagles’ full training as it is alleged that they have all suffered knocks which places them as doubts ahead of the game.

According to Allnigeriasoccer.com, the Arsenal star and his other teammates only had light springs and that was all for the day as they could not participate in other training sections.

Although, Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr dismissed fears that the trio will be out of the all important game, stating that the decision to have them sit out of full training was for precautionary reasons.

Rohr hinted that the players are fit and ready to play but he wants them to be fresh ahead of the game as a result of their usefulness to the team.

However, Arsenal are the major concerns for Iwobi knowing that his stay away from the pitch for a long period could affect the side in their bid to qualify for next season’s Champions League.

The North London side will return from the international break to face Bournemouth as they seek to leave the fifth position they currently occupy following their draw against Wolves on Sunday.
