Barcelona prepared £53m offer for Unsettled Arsenal if move for Coutinho fails

La Liga giant FC Barcelona have prepared £53m offer for Arsenal contract rebel Mesut Ozil if move for Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho fails

According to Spanish publication Don Balon, Barcelona will make a move for German Mesut Ozil if they are unable to sign Coutinho. The La Liga giants have provided £53 million for the Germany international.

Barcelona wants to bring big-names into the Camp Nou in the event Brazilian Neymar Jr leaves to join PSG this summer transfer window.

Reports indicate new Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde wants to sign Coutinho as a long-term replacement for aging Andres Iniesta. However, the Reds have so far resisted any effort by the La Liga giants to sign their star player.

Don Balon go on to claim that Barcelona are keen to sign Mesut Ozil due to his popularity among Real Madrid fans. The 28-year-old played a prominent role in Jose Mourinho’s Real Madrid team and helped them win the Spanish La Liga title in 2012.

Ozil has under one year left on his current contract with Arsenal. Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is keen to keep the star playmaker but risks losing him on a free at the end of next season unless a new contract is agreed.
