Barca Pave Way For Manchester United To Sign French Star

Barcelona have cooled their interest in Manchester United target and Borussia Dortmund attacker, Ousmane Dembele, according to reports.

The French star has been a subject of interest from several clubs in Europe following his breathtaking performances for Dortmund in the Bundesliga last season, netting 10 goals and 18 assists.

Barcelona were believed to be keen on beating other interested clubs to the signature of Dembele but have cooled their interest in the youngster after signing Gerard Deufoleu from Everton.

Despite the speculation, Borussia Dortmund have warned that the player is not for sale and warned they might report clubs that are trying to tap-up the player.

Dortmund sporting director said: ‘Ousmane Dembele has a long-term contract and there are no negotiations.

‘Ousmane Dembele will play for us next season and if (other clubs) do not contact Dortmund, we could initiate proceedings with FIFA.’

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona have relaxed their interest in the French winger and could return next summer paving way for the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea who are said to be in vying for the player’s signature.

The Red Devils are said to be considering an official approach for Dembele as part of Jose Mourinho’s plans to sign more players to his current squad.

However, they will have to beat Manchester City with reports that Pep Guardiola hosted the youngster to a private dinner last week in a bid to tap him up under the noses of Dortmund.
