Atletico Set To Announce Deal For Liverpool Target

Spanish La Liga giants Atletico Madrid are set to announce a mega deal for highly-rated Benfica attacker Joao Felix according to widespread reports emanating from the media in Spain.

Joao Felix has been the top transfer target for a lot of the major clubs in the European scene but it seems his next destination is at the new Wanda Metropolitano Stadium in Madrid which is the home of Atletico Madrid.

According to the specific publication from trusted Spanish newspaper AS, Atletico Madrid have agreed to pay the €120m (£107m) release clause in his contract with Benfica and an official announcement is expected to that effect on Wednesday.

Joao Felix signed a new contract with the Portuguese champions at the start of last season to take his release clause to the €120m.

Liverpool were reported to have had a £61m bid turned down for the 19-year-old towards the end of last year.

The Atletico Madrid move will make Joao Felix the fifth most expensive player in the history of world football after the Barcelona duo of Ousmane Dembele and Philippe Coutinho as well as the Paris Saint Germain (PSG) duo of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.

Joao Felix is a full Portuguese international after he made his debut for the senior team during the UEFA Nations League clash with Switzerland earlier this month.
