Arsenal handed opportunity to ruin United’s Ozil plans

According to reports, Spanish La Liga giants Barcelona are looking to seal the signature of German Mesut Ozil in the next transfer window, giving the Gunners a good chance to get one over their eternal rivals Manchester United.

Manchester United remain interested in signing the Germany international playmaker, but Arsenal would rather sell to Barcelona this January if possible to prevent losing the attacker to a rival club, as per the Daily Express.

While the playmaker would likely join the Red Devils once his contract runs out, Barca seems set to swoop for the creative midfielder earlier as they eye some quality players this winter to strengthen their team.

Spanish Publication Marca list of five players on the Catalans’ wishlist, but some Gunners supporters will be hoping they secure Ozil’s signature.

A lot of Arsenal fans will still be hoping that Ozil signs a new deal in north London, but that looks unlikely now considering how long this contract situation has been permitted to linger.

Ozil, 29, also looks a good fit for how the Catalan club like to play, and may believe a transfer to Barcelona boosts his own ambitions after failing to win much in the way of top silverware during his playing time at Arsenal.
