23-Year-Old Chelsea Defender Makes Transfer U-turn

Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen has made a remarkable transfer u-turn after admitting that he wants to stay at the club beyond this summer.

The 23-year-old centre back told the Danish media that his long-term future lies with Chelsea while speaking ahead of the latest set of Euro 2020 qualifiers.

Andreas Christensen had earlier talked about his frustrated with the lack of first-team opportunities under Maurizio Sarri during the just concluded season.

Sarri preferred the centre back partnership of Brazilian international David Luiz and German national team player Antonio Rudiger at the heart of the Chelsea defense.

It was a new situation for Andreas Christensen who was previously a regular while Antonio Conte was the Chelsea manager before his dismissal last summer.

Andreas Christensen returned to Chelsea from a two-year loan spell at German Bundesliga outfit Borussia Moenchengladbach in the summer of 2017 and he was part of the Chelsea XI on a regular basis under Conte.

The Danish international player has three years left on his Chelsea contract which will expire at the end of the 2021/22 season.

Andreas Christensen featured in all of the 15 games played by Chelsea during the latest Europa League campaign which the Blues ended as champions after the 4-1 win over Arsenal in their final clash.
