Agent Confirms Interest In Out-Of-favour Chelsea Star

The agent of Chelsea midfielder John Mikel Obi, John Ola Shittu, has confirmed that there are interested parties willing to seal a transfer on his client, who has been frozen out of the team by new Italian manager Antonio Conte.

John Mikel Obi has just 6 months left on his contract, which expires in the summer of 2017, and is free to start talking to clubs as from January with a view to a transfer.

He has been linked with big spenders in the Chinese Super League, Shanghai SIPG, with the idea of reuniting with his former manager at Chelsea, André Villa Boas, a possibility amidst interest from former French champions Olympique Marseille in addition to the ‘undisclosed’ interested parties in Turkey and Spain.

On the future of his client, John Ola Shittu said the following last week: “We have been having meetings with a few parties who are interested in him, once we are able to agree the way forward with Chelsea, then we will take it from there.”

“There are a few clubs in Europe and Asia, they are numerous and are interested in him because he is a quality player, aged only 29, and we just have to speak, so we will see. A lot of interest is there.

“There is no decision made yet and it is still 50/50 whether he will sign or leave. A lot can happen in the next months, never say never in football.” he concluded.
