Patriots and Colts owners have publicly voiced support for expanding the NFL regular season to 18 games. Do they not realize that watching 17 games is already a Herculean task that leaves me emotionally barren and physically slumped over my coffee table? Eighteen games is a bridge too far.
I Cannot Sustain This
By Week 14, my fantasy football team is usually a hospital ward, and my enthusiasm for the sport has been replaced by a grim, obligatory habit. Adding another week to the schedule is just corporate greed masquerading as entertainment. I don’t have the stamina to care about a Week 18 matchup between two 4-13 teams.
The Caveats Are Lies
They said they support it “with caveats.” The caveat is always just “more money for us, more stress for Kip.” I am going to write a strongly worded letter to the commissioner, and then never mail it because I don’t own stamps.
