Napoli Supremo Confirms Interest In £37m Liverpool Target

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has confirmed the club’s interest in Real Madrid midfielder James Rodriguez.

According to him, the Italian giants want to sign the Colombian international star this summer.

He made this known during his latest interview as monitored by popular media platform Goal.

Aurelio De Laurentiis stated that the decision to sign James Rodriguez is from Napoli manager Carlo Ancelotti.

The Italian tactician worked with James Rodriguez at Real Madrid for one season.

James Rodriguez played for Ancelotti during the 2014/15 campaign which was his first season as a Real Madrid player.

He signed for the 13-time European champions shortly after his heroics for the Colombian national team at the 2014 FIFA World Cup tournament in Brazil.

Real Madrid paid £63m to secure his transfer from French Ligue 1 outfit AS Monaco.

James Rodriguez spent two more seasons at Real Madrid after Ancelotti was sacked in 2015 before he was farmed out on loan to German Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich.

He spent two years on loan with the Bavarian giants after they paid £11m for the loan transfer with the option to sign him permanently for £37m.

James Rodriguez has been linked with reigning European champions Liverpool this summer after Bayern Munich opted not to sign him, but the Colombian is now poised to join Napoli.
