Man City Dodged A Bullet With Chelsea Signing Jorginho, Duncan Castles Reveals

Experienced journalist Duncan Castles is adamant that Premier League champions Manchester City dodged a bullet with Chelsea midfielder Jorginho.

Duncan Castles talked about the Italian midfielder in a recent interview monitored by the Daily Express.

He said that Manchester City were fortunate to have missed out on the Italian international star.

The Citizens were on the verge of completing a big money transfer for Jorginho before Chelsea swooped in to sign the player from Italian Serie A giants Napoli during last summer’s transfer window.

This was shortly after Manchester City had missed out on the transfer of Brazilian international midfielder Fred to fierce rivals Manchester City.

Chelsea paid £57m to secure the signature of Jorginho thereby making the fourth most expensive signing for the Blues after Kepa Arrizabalaga, Alvaro Morata, and Christian Pulisic.

Jorginho started his Chelsea career well but his form has tailed off in recent weeks in the role specially designed for him by Maurizio Sarri.

The 26-year-old has featured for Chelsea at the base of the midfield and he has come under severe criticism from fans and pundits due to his lack of defensive solidity.

Jorginho was one of the Chelsea players heavily criticized after the recent loss to rivals Arsenal in the Premier League.
