Deal Close! Manchester United Open Talks To Sign ‘Attack-minded’ Defender

Manchester United have started efforts to sign Barcelona defender, Yerry Mina before the end of the transfer window, according to reports.

The Red Devils are yet to make any significant movements in the summer transfer window, which has led to Jose Mourinho’s complaints about the size of his squad as he hopes to outshine his longterm foe, Pep Guardiola at the other side of Manchester City.

United chief negotiator, Matt Judge has now landed in Spain to thrash out a deal for Mina with reports that Barca are also ready to cash in on the defender.

It is understood that Jose Mourinho specifically pleaded to the United hierarchy to make a new signing after getting disinterested in their pursuit of Harry Maquire and Toby Alderweirld after being put off by their clubs’ asking price.

Reports in The Sun claim that Yerry Mina’s agent Felipe Russo has told Barcelona to lower their £44 million asking price for the defender in order for United to seal the deal before the end of summer transfer window.

The likes of Everton and Lyon have also been linked with moves for Mina, who showed his resilience during the last World Cup tournament in Russia, could get more playing time away from Camp Nou after making just six appearances for Barcelona since the start of the year.
