Alex Iwobi blames Referee for Arsenal’s loss to Manchester City

Arsenal star Alex Iwobi believes that the gunners result against Premier League rivals Manchester City on Sunday afternoon could have been different if Spaniard David Silva had been seen offside for Brazilian Gabriel Jesus’ goal.

David Silva was offside when he connected a pass to the Brazilian to score Manchester City’s third goal of the day, but neither the linesman or centre referee Michael Oliver called for offside. The Nigerian is convinced that if the officials had spotted the offside, the result could have been way different.

The Gunners were pushing for an equalising goal. Wenger’s men were stronger in the second stanza, particularly after France international striker Alexander Lacazette came on and netted in the 65th moment. However, the third Manchester City goal sealed Arsenal’s fate; there was no coming back from that scoreline.

Perhaps, the result would have been different if Manchester City had not been given the offside goal. However, that does not change the fact that City were vastly better just about everywhere on the field of play and thoroughly the deserved win.

If the Gunners had netted the second goal and Manchester City had won 3-2, meaning Gabriel’s goal had cost Arsenal two points, then maybe fans would feel angrier.
