PSG Favourites To Sign £75m Liverpool Target

French champions Paris Saint Germain (PSG) have emerged as favourites to sign highly-rated Ajax Amsterdam captain Matthijs De Ligt as per the report from ESPN.

Matthijs De Ligt is expected to leave Ajax Amsterdam this summer having led the Dutch Eredivisie giants to their first domestic double in over a decade.

The 19-year-old also led his boyhood club to the semifinals of the Champions League before being eliminated by Premier League giants Tottenham Hotspur.

Several clubs want to sign Matthijs De Ligt having impressed as an Ajax Amsterdam player in the last two seasons.

Spanish champions Barcelona were thought to be the front-runners in the race to sign De Ligt but they have been usurped by French giants PSG.

Apart from Barcelona and PSG, other major European clubs like German Bundesliga club Bayern Munich, Italian Serie A champions Juventus and newly crowned European champions Liverpool.

The aforementioned publication revealed that former PSG sporting director Leonardo will play a big role for the French champions in their quest to sign De Ligt.

Leonardo is expected to return to the club after six years.

The signing of Matthijs De Ligt means that the PSG defensive duo of Presnel Kimpembe and Thiago Silva are at the risk of being sold.
