Arsenal Favourites To Sign Experienced Chelsea Defender

Chelsea defender Gary Cahill could leave the club in the January transfer window following his lack of game time with the West Londoners.

Recently retired England international centre back Cahill has struggled to feature consistently for Chelsea since new manager Maurizio Sarri replaced fellow Italian Antonio Conte in the summer.

Former Napoli and Empoli boss Sarri has opted for the centre back partnership of Antonio Rudiger and David Luiz for Premier League games this season and Cahill has been restricted to 21 minutes only since the start of this campaign.

London rivals Arsenal could offer him the opportunity to escape from his Chelsea nightmare under Sarri.

The Daily Express claim that the Gunners are the bookmakers’ favourite to sign Gary Cahill when the transfer window reopens next week.

Bookmakers Ladbrokes say that Arsenal are at the odds to 7/4 to sign the former Aston Villa and Bolton Wanderers. Gary Cahill has six months left on his Chelsea contract and Maurizio Sarri has already given the

Blues’ skipper the permission to join another club.

He could be a short-term solution for the Gunners who are missing several defensive players.

Gary Cahill is likely to be a potential replacement for injured Arsenal defender Rob Holding.
