Injury News – Arsenal £65,000-a-week Star Picks Up Muscle Injury

Arsenal winger Alex Oxlade Chamberlain has picked up a muscle problem after he sustained the injury during his North London side’s 2-1 loss to title rivals Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday evening in what was a week 17 league clash in the English Premier League (EPL).

The injury was confirmed via the Arsenal Twitter account immediately after the game as follows: “@Alex_OxChambo has a muscular problem”

This further highlights a bad week for the Gunners with two successive league defeats and an injury picked up by one of their players during the game with former Bayern Munich and Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola’s men.

Before Sunday’s game at the Etihad Stadium, Arsenal knew they had to get a good result to keep up their league title chase after they fell nine points adrift of league leaders Chelsea following their 1-0 away win over Crystal Palace in the London Derby. They started well with Theo Walcott’s finish giving the team a 1-0 halftime however Arsene Wenger’s team fell apart after the interval with goals from Leroy Sane and Raheem Sterling condemning them to a third league defeat of the season.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was a second half substitute for Nigerian international Alex Iwobi but was soon replaced by Egyptian midfielder Mohamed Elneny after he picked up the muscle injury.
