Chelsea defender David Luiz has set his sights on an exit from the club at the end of the season according to the report emanating from the British media.
According to the Daily Express, the Brazilian international defender wants to leave the Blues in the summer following their failure to offer him more than a one-year contract.
He has six months left on his present deal with the West Londoners which runs out in June.
Chelsea are willing to offer him a one-year extension which is in line with their transfer policy.
The Blues don’t offer players over the age of 30 more than a one-year contract and David Luiz falls in that age bracket.
The 31-year-old centre back wants more than a one-year contract.
The aforementioned publication revealed that David Luiz will leave Chelsea to return to Benfica in the summer.
He signed for Chelsea from the Portuguese Super League giants over five years ago.
The same transfer policy influenced the decision of Cesc Fabregas to leave the club for French giants AS Monaco on Friday.
The Spaniard was offered a one-year extension to stay beyond his contract which would have expired in the summer but he opted for more job security at Monaco who offered him a three-year deal.
