Revealed: Barcelona Target Coutinho Sale In Bid To Sign Brazilian Star

Five-time European champions Barcelona are reportedly looking to fund a summer move for Paris Saint Germain (PSG) forward Neymar by selling flop Philippe Coutinho.

According to the publication from the Daily Record, Barcelona want to sell either former Liverpool playmaker Coutinho or French World Cup winner Ousmane Dembele in their quest to bring back Neymar to the Nou Camp.

The Brazilian international left Barcelona in controversial circumstances at the start of last season to join French Ligue 1 champion PSG in a world-record deal.

PSG activated the €222m release clause in his then Barcelona contract to sign the former Santos FC of Brazil star.

Neymar has encountered some problems during his stay in France especially on the injury front and he’s said to be open to the idea of returning to Spain.

He has previously talked up a Real Madrid transfer as long as the Los Merengues are willing to match or better his €30m after-tax yearly salary.

Barcelona spent club-record deals on both Philippe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele but neither of the two players have enjoyed an extended run of good form at the club.

Dembele joined Barcelona from Borussia Dortmund as a direct replacement for Neymar for an initial fee of €105m before Coutinho’s transfer for an initial fee of €120m broke that club record in January 2018.
