Barcelona Join Race To Sign Young Liverpool Target

Spanish top flight leaders Barcelona have joined the queue of interested clubs that want to sign Toulouse defender Jean-Clair Todibo.

According to the publication from Spanish media platform Mundo Deportivo, the Catalan giants are keen on a move for the highly rated centre back.

The 18-year-old had previously been linked with several European clubs like Liverpool, Napoli, Juventus and Champions League holders Real Madrid.

Jean-Clair Todibo was drafted into the Toulouse first team following the exit of ex-club skipper Issa Diop who has been in good form for the Hammers.

Diop joined West Ham United in a £20m deal in the summer and his place was taken by Todibo.

The young defender has been in impressive form for his French Ligue 1 club this season and that has not gone unnoticed with a lot of European clubs.

Jean-Clair Todibo could be the long-term replacement for ageing Spanish international centre back Gerard Pique if five-time European champions Barcelona manage to secure his transfer ahead of Liverpool and other interested clubs.

Pique is the only right-sided central defender in the Barcelona squad but the Catalans are set to add a second player to the squad with the transfer of Jeison Murillo from fellow Spanish side Valencia.
