According to reports, Arsenal are close to completing a New Year signing as they’re thought to have agreed on a transfer fee for Sevilla star Steven N’Zonzi.
Arsenal have long been heavily criticized for not signing a midfield leader, in the same sort as their successful ex-captain Patrick Vieira.
While that’s not to say that Steven N’Zonzi is as good as his French compatriot or will be, N’Zonzi, 28, has the characteristics needed to be a real force in the Gunners midfield and has been connected with a transfer.
As reported by El Gol, as cited by The Mirror, it seems as though Arsenal are edging closer to bringing him to North London, as it’s suggested that a £35.3million transfer fee has been agreed on.
Having had a brilliant stint with Spanish La Liga side Sevilla, which includes winning the UEFA Europa League back in 2016, the France international will arrive with much experience at a very high level, while he also boasts playing in the English Premier League following playing time with Blackburn and Stoke City.
Should the versatile midfielder arrive in January, he’ll be set to make a quick impact, and that is what is required at the club as they continue to battle for a top-four spot this campaign.
