AC Milan manager Gennaro Gattuso has thrown the transfer of Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas into serious doubts in his latest interview.
The seven-time European champions have been heavily linked with a move for the Spaniard but a transfer might not happen after Gattuso talked up the Financial Fairplay restrictions preventing the Rossoneri from signing new players.
He spoke about the Italians’ inability to sign players in an interview with DAZN.
Cesc Fabregas has been on the fringes of the Chelsea team since Maurizio Sarri took over in the summer and it’s no surprise that the 31-year-old has been touted as a possible transfer target for clubs like AC Milan and Manchester United ahead of the upcoming transfer window.
He has made just five Premier League appearances this term.
His playing time has been reduced due to the summer arrival of Jorginho from Italian Serie A side Napoli.
Cesc Fabregas has been a permanent fixture in the Chelsea starting XI since he signed for the Blues from Spanish La Liga giants Barcelona in the summer of 2014 for a fee reported to be around £30m.
He was part of the team that won the last two Premier League titles for Chelsea under Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte.
