Barcelona vs Chelsea Second Leg clash

Spanish La Liga giants FC Barcelona face reigning Premier League champions Chelsea in the UEFA Champions League next week, but manager Ernesto Valverde allegedly has more bad injury developments concerning Denis Suarez.

Advantage Barcelona

The Catalan outfits are in a good position having scored an away goal in a one all draw at home in the Champions League first leg, and so they’ll be sure of their chances in the second leg fixture.

However, as the Catalan side continue to battle for the Spanish La Liga crown, coupled with an upcoming Spanish Copa del Rey final, the tactician will be keen on having a fully-fit team to choose from for the closing stages of the season.

Injury setback

As per Football.London, Dennis Suarez sustained an injury in the match against La Liga side Espanyol in the Catalan Super Cup clash on Wednesday, and will now be out of action for some time with an adductor muscle problem.

Suarez, 24, has been limited to only 18 matches so far this campaign, but with the article also citing how Spaniard Andres Iniesta is a major injury doubt after suffering a hamstring injury, Denis Suarez could have been handed the nod at the Camp Nou to replace him.

Instead, the manager will now have to look at other options with Andre Gomes possibly in line to start in the middle of the park alongside the likes of Ivan Rakitic, Sergio Busquets, and Paulinho in the second leg clash.
