Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is hopeful that defender Joel Matip will be fit for selection when his side play Chelsea at Anfield on Saturday evening.
The centre-half missed the 3-0 win over Southampton in the English Premier League at Anfield Stadium on Saturday afternoon with a thigh problem and was not part of the travelling party to Spain for the UEFA Champions League encounter with La Liga side Sevilla on Tuesday.
However, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has now disclosed that he is expecting the defender to be available for selection when the Merseyside giant host Premier League Champions Chelsea on Saturday evening.
Answering questions from newsmen at his presser before the match against Sevilla, the former Dortmund coach said: “He [Matip] is in [the City of] Liverpool and training [well], so all [is] good.
“I [Jurgen Klopp] think there will be a big possibility he [Matip] will be fit [to play] for Saturday.
The Reds head into their match against the blues knowing that victory over Antonio Conte’s men would move them level on points with the Champions.
It’s been somewhat of a stuttering start to the season for Liverpool, with Klopp’s men currently 12 points adrift leaders Manchester City after 12 matches of the new season.
