Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has extended his lead at the top of the goalscorers’ chart in the Premier League after he scored one of the goals for the Reds in their win over Newcastle United.

Egyptian international Salah scored the second goal for Liverpool in the 3-2 win at Newcastle United on Saturday night.

The result was enough to take the Reds back to the Premier League summit at the expense of Manchester City who could go back to the top of the table with a home win over Leicester City on Monday night.

Liverpool knew that a win would be enough to displace Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table.

The Reds took an early lead in the 13th minute through a header from newly crowned PFA Player of the Year Award winner Virgil Van Dijk before they were pegged back seven minutes later by Newcastle United winger Christian Atsu.

Salah regained the lead for Liverpool just before the half hour mark as the Reds went into the halftime interval with a 2-1 advantage.

Newcastle United striker Salomon Rondon equalized for the hosts for the second time with ten second-half minutes gone before Liverpool substitute Divock Origi scored the winning goal of the game with four minutes left.

Origi came on for the aforementioned Salah in the second half after the Liverpool star suffered a head injury.

Mohamed Salah has now scored 22 goals with his strike vs Newcastle United and two ahead of nearest challengers Sadio Mane (Liverpool) and Sergio Aguero (Manchester City) who have both scored 20 league goals this season.
