Spaniard and Chelsea striker, Alvaro Morata has been dealt a big blow with the news that his proposed transfer to Spanish La Liga giants Atletico Madrid has fallen through.
According to the Daily Mail, they claim that Atletico Madrid are only interested in a loan move for the unsettled Morata while the Blues will only sanction a permanent transfer for the Spaniard.
The Madrid based club were keen on a return for Morata who was formerly on the payroll of the Spanish capital club before joining rivals Real Madrid.
It broke earlier in the week that other Spanish side Sevilla also pulled out of a transfer for Morata due to the huge financial demands from Chelsea having had a £40m bid rejected for the former Real Madrid and Juventus player.
Alvaro Morata is desperate to leave Stamford Bridge in this transfer window after failing to light up Chelsea with goals.
The striker has not been able to meet up with fans’ expectations since his then record transfer to Chelsea at the start of last season.
He joined Chelsea from European champions Real Madrid in a deal worth £60m but his transfer has been usurped by the transfer fee for compatriot and Blues goalkeeper Kepa Arribazalaga.
The Blues activated the £71m release clause in his Athletic Bilbao contract to sign Kepa in 2018.
