Manchester United have been joined by Bayern Munich in the race to sign Real Madrid attacking midfielder, James Rodriguez, according to reports.

The 25-year-old midfielder has been a frustrated figure at Santiago Bernabeu since he joined them from Monaco in 2014. He has been tipped to leave the Spanish capital in search of first team opportunities.

Rodriguez is said to be furious with Real boss Zinedine Zidane over his lack of chances and wants to leave and the club have slapped a £52million asking price on the player, sparking bidding war from a couple of clubs in Europe.

Manchester United are believed to one of the clubs vying for the Colombian’s signature with reports that Jose Mourinho wants the former Monaco star to replace Wayne Rooney at the Old Trafford.

However, the Red Devils will have to beat competition from the likes of Chelsea and Bayern Munich who have just joined the pursuit to sign Rodriguez.

Reports in Spanish outlet, AS claims that Bayern boss Carlo Ancelotti is ready to Manchester United to the signature of Rodriguez as he eyes a reunion with the player who played under him at Real Madrid.

However, Real Madrid teammate  Luka Modric has warned James Rodriguez that moving to the Premier League might be a huge mistake for him.
