After successfully getting Monaco star player Bernardo Silva for £43 some hours ago, Manchester City is trying to see to the possibilities of signing another Monaco player Benjamin Mendy.
However, it appears Pep Guardiola won’t be getting Mendy so easy, with Manchester United ready to rival him for the player’s signature.
Right now, new reports coming from France reveals that another premier league club Liverpool are joining the race for the defender.
One thing the three premier league clubs seem to have in common this season is not having an appropriate left-back. Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho and Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp have often used midfielders in the left-back this campaign.
Benjamin has stood out in a superb Monaco squad that is filled with young stars and future world stars. Champions League won’t be the problem because Liverpool, Manchester United, and Man City all qualified for next season’s Champions League, and would do all that can be done to get his signature.
A French outlet RMC Sport insisted that Jurgen Klopp’s side has told the French champions that they will match Man City’s £39M offer. It was added that the Reds promised to increase the offer if their rivals should do same.
If Liverpool should pay the amount for Mendy, the Frenchman would become the most expensive player ever bought by the club.
Their German boss is keen on solving the club’s left-back issues once and for all this summer.
