Liverpool top target Virgil Van Dijk has heaped lots of praises on Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge following speculations that both of them could have been teammates at Anfield this term.
Van Dijk has evolved into one of the best defenders in the premier league, and he was a hot prospect during the summer transfer window when he emerged as a target for a handful of top English clubs including Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool.
It is understood that the player favoured Liverpool than other clubs after having spoken with the reds German boss Jurgen Klopp who was able to convince him.
Unfortunately, Liverpool were forced to pause the move and issue an apology to Southampton after the Saints threatened to report them to the FA for approaching the defender illegally, and nothing could be done before the transfer window was slammed shut.
The Dutchman remained at St Mary’s for the 2017/18 campaign amid growing speculation that he still nurturing the idea of moving to Liverpool.
And speaking recently during the FIFA 18 UK launch about the toughest opponents he has faced as a defender, the 26-year-old made mention of the duo of Sturridge and Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero.
Virgil said Daniel is a great striker when he is fit, and that Sergio is an ‘amazing’, ‘small’, and ‘quick’ striker.
