United to miss out on £40m-rated transfer target

Alderweireld

English Premier League outfit Manchester United could miss out of their bid to secure the signature of North London outfit Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld.

It would be recalled that Toby Alderweireld was strongly linked with Manchester United in the last summer as former manager Jose Mourinho was keen on his signature which led to his outburst with the club’s chief Ed Woodward after the deal failed to fall through.

Now that the Portuguese boss has been asked to leave, suggestions are that the Red Devils will still go ahead to secure the signature of the star player having been established that the club still wishes to have him.

But with latest report, Toby Alderweireld could be set for another stay with North London outfit by signing a new deal at the club anytime soon.

The Belgium international is a perfect choice for the Old Trafford side but their will to convince him not to sign a new deal with Tottenham remains unknown.

There is no doubt about the ability of the former Atletico Madrid central defender as he is widely known in the Premier League for his class defending and ability to control the back-line.

However, the 29-year-old is contracted to Tottenham until later this year which means United have got this transfer window to finalize a deal for Toby Alderweireld.
