According to new reports, Aston Villa are determined to keep Manchester United’s Sam Johnstone at the Villa Park on a permanent basis following his impressive performances in Steve Bruce’s squad.
Bruce successfully persuades the red devils to allow the young shot-stopper come over to his side on loan midway through last term, and the talented goalie has since extended his stay at the Championship side as he looks to help bring them back to the English top flight.
After an unimpressive start to the new campaign, the Villa Park club have gone up to win four games on a roll and have moved up to the seventh position on the Championship table, five points behind leaders Cardiff.
In their last six matches in the Championship, they have only conceded just a goal and didn’t lose any of their September games to increase their chances of moving to the premier league next season.
Of course, 24-year-old Johnstone played a big role in this success story with some really fine saves and the Villans are now trying to seal a permanent deal for him when January comes.
Speaking recently about Sam and his performances at the Villa Park, manager Bruce made it known that he will put talks across to Manchester United about the possibility of keeping the goalkeeper in his own team for the next few years.
“The ideal move for us would be to buy him [Sam] in January.” the manager added.
