Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is already admitting that things won’t be easy for him this season with Chelsea, and that it was easier for him to defend his first Serie A title at Turin than it will be with his current club in the premier league.
The Italian tactician believes there are bigger rivals in the premier league who invested in their squads during the summer transfer window and would make things really difficult for him this season.
While he was still boss at Juventus, Conte was able to beat AC Milan to the 2011-12 Serie A trophy and was still able to win it easily the following season.
However, this season so far, the blues have already found themselves six points behind Manchester United and Manchester City after losing to the citizens at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
And while giving his thoughts after the 1-0 defeat to Pep Guardiola’s side, the former Italy head coach explained that he is expecting a much harder title defence this season than what he faced in the Serie A few years ago.
“[In the premier league] it is very difficult to win two titles in a row…from last season to this season, you have big teams and now they are [even] bigger.” Conte said.
Chelsea are currently sitting fourth on the premier league table behind Man United, City and Tottenham Hotspur.
