Premier League giant Arsenal will have to do without the quartet of goalkeeper David Ospina, defender Shkodran Mustafi, English Calum Chambers and striker Danny Welbeck for Sunday’s big match with Manchester City.
Second Choice goalkeeper David Ospina has not been able to deputize for first choice safe hand Petr Cech in successive UEFA Europa League matches with Serbian side Red Star Belgrade and the League Cup fourth round win over Norwich due to a groin injury. Starlet Matt Macey has been handed the chance to impress in his absence.
Danny Welbeck, meanwhile, has not played since being forced out of the last-gasp loss to Watford in October with a hamstring injury. That was his first match since recuperating from a groin injury sustained when they played Chelsea, which has sidelined him out for about a month.
Defender Mustafi, who sustained a muscle injury while representing Germany in their final 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier versus Azerbaijan earlier in October won’t be fit enough to feature. Normally the trio should be available after the upcoming international break.”
England international versatile defender Chambers has now returned to full training after recuperating from a hip injury, with Arsene Wenger declaring that the player, whose only outing of the season to date came against Doncaster back in September, is expected to be “available after the upcoming international break also”.
