Done deal
Premier League giants Manchester United have finalized the signing of Brazil international midfielder Fred from Ukrainian club Shakhtar Donetsk on a five-year contract deal.
The 25-year-old becomes manager Jose Mourinho’s second summer signing following the acquisition of Diogo Dalot from FC Porto.
The Red Devils earlier in the month announced they had agreed to a transfer deal with the players club, which British sources understand to be about £52m including bonuses, but had been waiting for the midfielder to be given a work permit.
It is believed the bonuses could increase the deal to about £61.2million – this would make him the South American the club’s third most expensive acquisition of all time behind Frenchman Paul Pogba and Belgian Romelu Lukaku.
Fred’s position
The Brazilian is a box-to-box midfielder who operates more from the central, he plays as part of a holding midfield pair or with a three-man midfield. The midfielder will perfectly suit playing with a three-man midfield at Old Trafford.
Playing style
Fred is a dynamic, modern and combative midfielder. He is a type of midfielder the tactician loves to work with- athletic, technically gifted, strong defensively and composed on the ball. He is a fine dribbler and can spot a pass.
