Manchester United’s 2-0 win against Burnley on Sunday might just go beyond saving the club from a further crisis but helping manager Jose Mourinho in solving his confusion by now knowing who his best back four are.

Two goals from the hero of the day, Romelu Lukaku was just enough to hand the Mourinho side a big win to secure six points in four games.

Before the game, Mourinho had confessed being confused as he could not tell who his best defenders are as he has featured different lineups in the last three games. This has been a major concern following their 3-0 trashing in the hands of London side, Tottenham.

However, the game against Burnley saw Chris Smalling and Victor Lindelof pair at the centre while Luke Shaw and Antonio Valencia were seen in both sides of the wing back.

The solid performance of these players might just be the answer to the question Mourinho has been seeking for, not minding the injury worries.

The confidence of the pair, their combination and understanding has proven the quality of the defence which recorded a clean sheet for the first time this season.

With the international break already here, it is expected that when the team assembles again, Mourinho will stick to his winning team only on the condition that the players pick up injuries in their country home.
