Manchester United are on the verge of completing a summer transfer for Real Madrid forward, Alvaro Morata, according to reports.
The 24-year-old striker has been monitored by several clubs this summer, after failing to get into the plans of Zinedine Zidane at the Santiago Bernabeu last season, making just a few appearances despite showing to be one of the most prolific strikers in Europe.
Prior reports suggested that Italian giants AC Milan have moved ahead of Premier League clubs in the pursuit of Morata, and have agreed on a deal for the Spaniard but the reports were dismissed by the player who claimed he will remain with Real.
However, Onda Cero reports that Manchester United have moved ahead of other clubs in the transfer pursuit and have agreed on a deal that will see Morata arrive at the Old Trafford this summer.
It is expected that the former Juventus forward will travel to Manchester next Monday to finalise a deal after agreeing to a move.
Jose Mourinho is understood to have moved for the striker after releasing Zlatan Ibrahimovic from the club. The Swede star who was a key performer for United last season is currently nursing an ACL injury and not expected to be back in action till next season.
