Romelu Lukaku has been in the news recently as far as transfer is concerned and it appears he is on his way to Stamford Bridge.
However, former Arsenal player Paul Merson has urged the Premier League champions to sign Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata ahead of the Everton star.
Chelsea are believed to be closing in on a deal for Lukaku, and the Belgium international has reportedly rejected an offer from Manchester United for a reunion with the West London club.
Last summer, Alvaro Morata was rumoured to be on the way to Chelsea and he was said to have held talks with Antonio Conte about a move to Stamford Bridge. A move, however, didn’t materialise, and right now, the Spaniard has reportedly agreed to join Man United even though the Old Trafford club is yet to agree on a fee with the European Champions.
And former Arsenal striker Paul Merson is of the opinion that Chelsea boss Antonio Conte should revive his interest in Morata instead of going ahead with his move for Lukaku.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Paul believes the Spaniard is a better fit than the Belgian for Chelsea, and that Morata is a better all-round footballer.
Merson drew our attention to Lukaku’s stats in the just concluded Premier League season and insists Diego Costa put up a better performance than Romelu.
