Obviously, many Liverpool fans still desire seeing new legs in their squad before the commencement of the upcoming campaign.
One of the players heavily linked with the Anfield club is Southampton’s Virgil Van Dijk, but it doesn’t looks as if he will join Liverpool too soon.
Last week, the Mirror reported that the Dutchman was training alone after requesting a transfer away from the Saints this summer. However, it is being said that the reds are unlikely to make a move for him so as not to spoil renewed peace between the two clubs.
Earlier this summer, Liverpool were forced into making an embarrassing apology after Southampton threatened to report them to the Premier League for seeking the player illegally.
The two clubs have however made peace with one another, and the fear that the peace could be disrupted could make Liverpool ignore the signing of Van Dijk.
Liverpool are now in a hard position as this is a good time to get the player who they have been pursuing since the January transfer window.
The Netherlands international desire leaving Southampton and he is the type of player Jurgen Klopp needs in his squad – but a deal remains very unlikely at present.
Also, RB Leipzig remains adamant on their stance about their talented player Naby Keita, and it appears Liverpool have been defeated in their pursuit for the African star.
