According to reports, English Premier League top team Manchester United are being made to realise that they will have to bring out a superb £15 million ($19 million) out of their pocket if they really want to get the services of Southampton FC defender Jose Fonte in the January window transfer.
Controversial Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho, looked earnestly to sign his countryman Jose Fonte from his current club Southampton FC in the summer. Speculations keeps flying round the media that the Portuguese tactician is working hard and is deeply keen to add experience to his defense department.
32-year-old Fonte who was part of Portugal’s victorious Euro 2016 campaign, has 18 months left on his contract at St Mary’s.
The former Chelsea boss signed 22-year-old Eric Bailly from Villarreal in the summer, with the Ivorian powerhouse fitting in seamlessly into the red devils back-four.
24 year old Phil Jones is Mourinho’s other preferred center-back. Therefore,it’s quite obvious that Manchester United’s defense lacks experience, and this is what Mourinho wants to add.
The Daily Mail reported that Mourinho believes he could sign Fonte for £5 million ($6.3 million) but Southampton’s management wants to see that figure trebled at the transfer window which reopens on the first of January.
