Liverpool are battling Chelsea for the signature of Uruguayan wonder kid Gustavo Viera, according to reports.
The teenage striker has been tipped for great success in his home country due to his impressive talents which earned him ‘new Luis Suarez’. There are reports that various clubs in Europe have shown interest in the youngster but his current club sporting director, Gonzalo Mattos believes he will join an English club.
He said: ‘‘I think Europe he could go in a short while, of course, he can play in Premier League.’
Viera who currently plays for Uruguayan side, Liverpool FC Montevideo had earlier revealed his desire to play the English game, admiring the style of both interested clubs, Liverpool and Chelsea which could have handed them an edge in his pursuit.
‘I like of course Luis Suarez from his time in Liverpool. Liverpool and Chelsea are the two clubs I enjoy playing for. I enjoyed the physical side of the English game,’ he said.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is known for his ability to develop young talents into world-class stars and will be open to the idea of having Viera who could be the next Anfield hero like his compatriot but what seems yet to known is whether the Uruguayan will be allowed to play for the Reds immediately due to the regulation of the English game.
