Chris Sutton thinks believes Danny Drinkwater has made a big mistake by turning down an England invitation.
The former Celtic forward said Drinkwater’s stance to turn down a place in Gareth Southgate’s team for the two friendly matches the break in his article column for the Daily Mail.
Chelsea summer signing Danny Drinkwater is hardly a regular starter for the The Lions, and his stance to reject the opportunity to feature for his National team against World Champions Germany and Brazil in friendly games seems bizarre.
The Ex Leicester star has played just three matches for England, and it looks like the Chelsea man is not in a hurry to earn his fourth cap of his career.
Danny Drinkwater’s main reasoning for the national snub is believed to be due to his match fitness concerns. He has had to endure a testing start to his playing career at Chelsea, with injuries preventing him from staring at a bright note.
“Now, [Danny] Drinkwater’s opportunity to play for England at the World Cup next summer is surely over and future England bosses – never mind [Gareth] Southgate – will not want to touch [feature] him [Drinkwater]”.
Chelsea manager Antonio Conte will be hoping that midfield maestro Danny Drinkwater is not experiencing a repeat of his injury problems with regards to his match fitness.
