Liverpool monitoring 24-year-old target contract, set to table bid in January

A report from Anfield has made it known that the Reds are monitoring the thorny contract negotiations of Poland international, Piotr Zielinski and Italian club, Napoli.

Liverpool were close to securing a deal for Piotr Zielinski back in 2016 before the Poland star decided to leave Empoli for Napoli in a deal worth £14 million.

However, since the Poland international joined Napoli, he has become a regular player in the Italian league with 15 goals and 10 assists in 104 appearances for the club.

But a recent report from Italy has placed his future in doubt at the Italian club.

According to some Italian sports news outfits, they claimed Napoli and Piotr Zielinski are having a disagreement over a new contract term which would see the Italian club double his current £57 million release clause to £114 million.

The reports indicated that Napoli are taking this step in other to ward off growing interest in the 24-year-old star from other clubs.

But it looks as if Piotr Zielinski’s agent are not happy with the new £114 million release clause as they believe it is too much and have refused to accept the terms.

Should the two sides fail to reach a compromise, Liverpool will wade in to sign their target but may have to compete against Juventus, who are also monitoring the situation at Napoli.
