In the ongoing winter transfer session, Manchester United are in the news once again. This time, it was reported that United manager Jose Mourinho is interested in signing Marseille midfielder Lassana Diarra.
Diarra is not a stranger in the English Premier League- he has played for both Arsenal and Chelsea before. So if he should come to the Old Trafford, the 31-year old will know what he should do. And considering the fact that he was a Real Madrid player when Mourinho was still Mardrid coach, both of them should move well.
He joined Marseille as a free agent in the summer of 2015 and has been a vital player in the squad. Jose Mourinho seeks to strengthen his midfield side as he hope to grab a Champions League ticket for United.
Now, according to Foot Mercato, Mourinho is not interested in keeping Morgan Schneiderlin at Old Trafford and will look to propose a swap deal that involves Morgan in order to land Diarra.
Manchester United got the trio of Herrera, Pogba, and Carrick as their main central midfield options- but are lacking depth. It is clear the Portuguese coach do not trust both Schneiderlin or Fellaini. Therefore, Diarra should be of great benefits to the squad.
Diarra still has two-and-a-half years on his contract with Marseille, and we are looking if the Ligue 1 club will allow him go.
