Nice sporting director Gilles Grimandi has talked about the possibility of a summer move for in-form Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud who has been linked with several French clubs ahead of the next transfer window this summer.

Giroud has been attracting the interest of several French Ligue 1 outfits as his Chelsea contract nears its end.

French top flight sides like OGC Nice, Lyon and Marseille are all said to be keen on a move for Giroud who has scored 10 goals in 11 Europa League games for Chelsea this season.

His Europa League form has propelled the Blues to the final four of the competition.

Chelsea will face German Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt in a two-legged tie at the start of next month.

Giroud is the leading goalscorer in the Europa League.

In a chat with popular French media portal L’Equipe, Gilles Grimandi said that it would be difficult for Nice to sign Giroud though he was quick to point out that it is a possibility.

OGC Nice president Gauthier Ganaye has already talked up the idea of signing Olivier Giroud in one of his recent interviews.

Giroud has been frustrated with the amount of playing time that he’s getting at Chelsea.

His contract expires this summer though Chelsea have the option of extending his contract by one year.
