When Spaniard Alvaro Morata and Belgian Romelu Lukaku signed for league giants Chelsea and Man United respectively last term, it seemed as if the then reigning Premier League champions had sealed the better end of the deal.
Contrasting fortunes
The Belgium international striker Romelu Lukaku has scored goals for fun in his first season at United while Spain international striker Alvaro Morata struggled to lift the burden as the Blues toiled and finally finished in a UEFA Europa League place.
It looks as if the former Juventus manager was completely overwhelmed by the heavy responsibility of being his team’s main forward for the first time in his career and the eventual result was being excepted from his nation’s 23-man FIFA World Cup squad.
According to a report by Bild, as cited by TalkSPORT Alvaro Morata could be set to leave Chelsea after only a season, in a £45million transfer to German Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund.
Higuain could replace Morata
With former Napoli head coach Maurizio Sarri reportedly in good position to be the new tactician in the Blues hotseat, he might want to reunite with Argentina striker Gonzalo Higuain at Stamford Bridge.
The striker broke the Italian Serie A goal record in a single campaign in the duo’s sole season together at Napoli so the Italian clearly knows how to bring out the best in the South American hitman.
