It appears Liverpool can now eventually get the signing of Southampton’s Virgil Van Dijk done before the end of the summer transfer window, with the defender linked with the Anfield club for much of this summer.
The Daily Mail are reporting that Van Dijk’s club are planning to make a move for Lazio’s Wesley Hoedt to replace him, and are already trying to adapt to life without him.
It is understood that the Netherlands international is ready to hold talks with the Saints this week over his future at the club with Jurgen Klopp’s side still being strongly linked with the player.
And now Southampton are preparing a move for Hoedt from Lazio to replace his fellow countryman before he depart near the beginning of the new campaign.
Virgil has made it known that he desire moving away from Southampton despite being a very important member in their squad. But he appears to seek a major upgrade in his career and deserves playing with a club where he can play in the Champions League.
Last week the Dutchman trained alone at St Mary’s training ground while the rest of his squad were in France for their pre-season preparations. This gave the hint that his departure is getting more and more closer.
However, it is understood that Antonio Conte’s Chelsea are also interested in securing Van Dijk’s services and will try snatching him from Jurgen Klopp’s grip.
