Manchester United contacted agent of Anderlecht midfielder Leander Dendoncker before the arrival of Nemanja Matic, according to reports.
The 22-year-old has shone brightly with his performances for the Belgian side, drawing attention from a number of clubs in Europe, with reports that Manchester United are one of the leading clubs to sign the player.
United boss Jose Mourinho is understood to be keen on adding a new face to his central midfield area in plans to better his team’s chances next season which led to the eventual signing of Nemanja Matic from Chelsea.
Prior to that the Red Devils were linked with moves for Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Eric Dier and AS Monaco duo of Fabinho and Tiemoue Bakayoko who later joined Chelsea.
United have also been linked with a move for Anderlecht midfielder Leander Dendoncker with reports that the midfielder caught Jose Mourinho’s eye during their Europa League clash last season..
Reports in Manchester Evening News claim that the Red Devils approached the player’s representatives over a potential move before announcing Nemanja Matic’s arrival on Monday.
It is understood that Anderlecht are willing to offload the player this summer while his agent also confirmed to have held talks with some clubs in Europe over a potential summer move.
