According to reports, Chelsea are interested in bringing back Southampton defender Ryan Bertrand, having already been linked with two other Southampton players; Virgil van Dijk and Cedric Soares this summer transfer window.
The former Chelsea defender has confirmed himself as one of the best left-back in the Premier League since his transfer to St Mary’s from the Bridge, and with Serie Champions Juventus determined that they will not sell Brazilian Alex Sandro, Chelsea are weighing up a transfer move to re-sign the defender they sold for about £10million in 2015.
The Saints are determined to keep hold of all of their players this summer transfer window, and having just received financial backing; they’re in no hurry to sell. However, the Blues will hope that the smooth relationship between both clubs will allow them to do business.
Soares and Van Dijk are said to be Chelsea’s first choice options, but if a contract can’t be done for either, Chelsea could look somewhere else to fill those voids and return to Southampton with an offer for Bertrand.
Ryan Bertrand, who has played 14 matches for England, was sold by the Blues two years ago but has impressed at Southampton, becoming an important member of the Southampton team.
