Arsenal ready to make 24-year-old their first summer signing

According to reports in Italy, Arsenal are desperately keen on beating Champions League finalist Liverpool to the signing of Napoli star Piotr Zielinski.

Arsenal keen on Napoli star

Italian media publication Corriere del Mezzogiorno, as cited by Daily Express, is claiming that Arsenal are keen to make landing the Napoli midfielder a top priority.

The same report states that Piotr Zielinski has a contract buyout clause of £57million that both Liverpool and Arsenal could activate in the next transfer window.

As per the same report, the Gunners view the Poland international midfielder as a replacement for England star Jack Wilshere should the midfielder refuse to pen a new contract with Arsenal.

Mesut Ozil’s rather patchy form is also a major worry for Arsenal and Zielinksi would hand Wenger’s successor with another alternative in the midfielder.

Liverpool linked with a move for the Polish

The Reds have been consistently linked with Zielinksi but Liverpool are allegedly interested in his colleague Jorginho to improve their defensive midfield option.

The Pole has netted four goals and has provided two assists in 12 starts and 22 sub appearances in the Italian Serie A this term to help the Serie A side challenge Juventus in the Serie A title race.

The North Londoners lost 3-1 to Leicester in Arsene Wenger’s penultimate match in charge on Wednesday night at the King Power Stadium.
