How Carabao Cup reveals the difference between Wenger and Emery

Since the emergence of Unai Emery as Arsenal manager in the summer, pundits have continued to give their opinion of the difference between the current and the former manager, Arsene Wenger.

Arsenal players are not excluded from those who tried to draw comparison and differences between the two coaches with the majority citing the style of play while others cited discipline and ambition.

However, the words of the Spanish manager ahead of the Wednesday’s Carabao Cup against Brentford proves he is a lot different from Wenger in terms of competitiveness and mental strength.

Ahead of the game, the former PSG boss admitted the strength of the championship side and says he expects a difficult game.

He added that playing Brentford in the preseason gives him a good idea of what to expect, hence he prepares his team for a very good game.

This shows how much he takes the competition, which was formerly called the Carling Cup more seriously. Hence a more serious attitude and approach is expected ahead of the game.

This is a lot different from what was available under the reigns of Wenger who did not win the competition for once, for the only reason that he never took it as seriously as he should.

Arsenal fans knew the approach and preparation level for the competition in terms of team selection when Wenger was in charge and it never gave any confidence or hope of winning it for once.

However, Emery is expected to field a strong team and also demand seriousness in attitude from his players.
