As per reports in Spain today, Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is considering making a move for Villarreal star Manu Trigueros.
With Chelsea midfield trio of N’Golo Kante, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Danny Drinkwater all suffering a various degree of injury in the past month, the Italian tactician feels like he needs more options in the middle for the second stanza of the League season to challenge favourably for the League title.
Manu Trigueros is believed to be top of Conte’s January wish list. The 26-year-old midfielder is known for his good displays as a holding midfielder, where he has played 219 times for La Liga side Villarreal since making his debut about 6 years ago
Despite his good individual displays across the last 24 months, Manu Trigueros has never featured for Spain at international level, however, he is still hoping he can do enough to force his way into the Spanish National team for the FIFA World Cup next summer in Russia, and a transfer to Stamford Bridge in the winter transfer window could increase his FIFA World cup chances.
In other news, Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek has disclosed that he feels less pressured to perform at Crystal Palace compared to Stamford Bridge. The young midfielder is at Palace on a season-long loan.
