According to new reports, La Liga champions Real Madrid won’t be bothering about Man United goalkeeper David De Gea anytime soon, as they will complete a deal for Athletic Bilbao shot-stopper Kepa Arrizabalaga.
Real Madrid have been linked with De Gea for some time now, and they even made some moves to bring him over to Spain during the past summer transfer window.
But after completing the necessary paperwork for the move, they couldn’t achieve their aim before the transfer window was slammed shut.
David has 18 months left on his existing contract at Manchester United and he appears keen on moving back to his hometown, though claimed to be happy at Old Trafford.
He has kept eight clean sheets in 11 Premier League games this season so far for Jose Mourinho’s side, and he’s regarded as one of the best shot-stoppers in the country. But it appears Zinedine Zidane is no longer interested in him and is ready to bring in Arrizabalaga from Athletic Bilbao.
COPE made it known that Arrizabalaga’s current side are trying to insert a £70m release clause in his contract, but he is refusing and wants to move to Madrid when the winter transfer window comes.
A move to the Spanish capital will represent a major upgrade in his career as he will be chanced to play in higher competitions like the Champions League, win more trophies and receive better wages.
